After several years working in other areas of recruitment, I moved into the education sector in 2009—initially running a busy secondary desk before going on to open a brand-new branch in Derby. Throughout my career in Education Recruitment I’ve held a variety of roles, including Operations Director, where I was responsible for nine branches nationally.

Over time, I’ve realised something important: what I truly love about this industry is working closely with schools and candidates, delivering the highest level of service, and building strong, meaningful, long-lasting relationships. That passion is exactly why I decided to set up Enlightenment Education. For years, people encouraged me to “go it alone,” and I finally took the plunge—to create something that feels right, that puts people first, and that offers a transparent, genuinely local service.

As well as supporting our schools with high-quality candidates, I spend a lot of time volunteering and taking part in careers sessions within the schools we partner with. It’s something I find incredibly rewarding—and it feels great to give back to the community that supports us.

Outside of work, I’m a very proud Nana to my gorgeous 18-month-old granddaughter, Minnie, and mum to a wonderful daughter. Our family is also completed by Oreo, my lovely dog who keeps me on my toes. I love walking, running, and heading off on holiday whenever I get the chance.

Working within the education sector has always been more than just a job for me—it’s a genuine passion. My journey began back in 2009 when I was lucky enough to join an SEN school and residential home in Staffordshire. I spent 4.5 incredible years there, gaining hands-on experience, learning from some fantastic colleagues, and discovering just how rewarding SEN work truly is.

After a period working at another SEN school in Derby, I decided it was time for a new adventure. I moved abroad to Greece and later travelled through South East Asia—an experience that opened my eyes to different cultures and gave me the space to reflect on what I really wanted for my future.

When I returned home, I knew one thing for certain: I wasn’t done with SEN. I applied for a role as an SEN Recruitment Consultant, not entirely sure what to expect and fully convinced I didn’t stand a chance. But after an interview with Heather in 2014, everything changed—my career in education recruitment officially began! Over the years, I worked my way up to Team Leader, but my heart has always stayed with what I love most: building genuine, long-lasting relationships with clients and candidates and helping people find the right support.

For as long as I can remember, I dreamed of starting my own business… and now that dream is real. Welcome to Enlightenment Education!

Outside of work, life is wonderfully full and chaotic. I’m a mum to a lively five-year-old girl and a soon-to-be two-year-old whirlwind, as well as a proud stepmum to two boys. And of course, our family wouldn’t be complete without Waffle, our lovely little dog who keeps us all entertained.
