After a number of years in other sectors of recruitment, I moved into the Education sector in 2009 initially running a secondary desk and then opening a new branch in Derby. I have progressed into various roles throughout my time in Education Recruitment including Operations Director where I had responsibility for 9 branches nationally.

What I’ve come to realise more recently, and my reason for setting up Enlightenment Education, is that the parts of the role I really prefer are working closely with my schools and candidates to deliver the best service I possibly can and building strong and lasting relationships. For years people have encouraged me to “go it alone” and I’ve finally decided to take the plunge and do what will make me happy; do the right things by both my clients and candidates and offer a transparent local service.

Alongside supplying candidates to our local schools, I spend a lot of time volunteering and supporting careers sessions in the schools we work with which I really enjoy and it’s always good to be able to give something back to a school that chooses to work with us. Outside of work I’m a mum to a 15 year old daughter (help!), and I enjoy walking, running and holidays!

Working within the Education sector has always been a passion of mine. Back in 2009 I was fortunate enough to secure a role within a SEN School and Residential home in Staffordshire. I worked at the school for 4.5 years and thoroughly enjoyed my time there and learnt so much. Following some time working at another SEN school in Derby, I then decided to take some time out and moved abroad to Greece followed by travelling around South East Asia.

On my return I knew I still wanted a role that involved SEN and applied to a Job Advert to be a SEN Recruitment Consultant, not really knowing a great deal about the job and thinking I didn’t stand a chance. I was interviewed by Heather back in 2014 and that’s where my journey in Education recruitment began! Throughout the past 6 years I have progressed up to the role of Team Leader, however my true passion is still forging lasting relationships with both clients and candidates.

Since working as a Recruitment Consultant, I have always dreamt about setting up my own business so here we are; welcome to Enlightenment Education!

Outside of work I am expecting my first child in November a little girl!! I have two stepsons and a lovely little dog called Waffle. I enjoy family time and going on holiday.
