08 Jun Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Enlightenment Education Ltd is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all areas of our business and supply chain. Although we are not a Relevant Commercial Organisation under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we voluntarily uphold the principles of the Act and maintain strong ethical standards across our operations.
Our Organisation and Structure
Enlightenment Education is a micro‑business providing education recruitment and safeguarding‑compliant staffing solutions to schools and alternative provisions across Derby and the surrounding areas. We operate without a physical office, with both Directors working from home, and our supply chain is small, UK‑based, and limited to essential professional services such as payroll, DBS checks, insurance, and software providers.
Our Policies on Modern Slavery
We have a zero‑tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Our Safeguarding Policy, Recruitment Policy, and Code of Conduct reinforce our commitment to ethical practice, safe recruitment, and the protection of vulnerable individuals. These policies apply to all staff, workers, and suppliers engaged with our organisation.
Due Diligence Processes
We carry out robust due diligence to ensure that modern slavery does not occur within our business or supply chain. This includes:
- Comprehensive identity and right‑to‑work checks
- Enhanced DBS checks for all workers
- Supplier vetting to ensure compliance with UK employment and human rights legislation
- Ongoing monitoring for any indicators of exploitation or unsafe working practices
Risk Assessment and Management
Given the nature of our business and our UK‑only supply chain, the risk of modern slavery is considered low. However, we remain vigilant. Any concerns relating to exploitation, trafficking, or unethical practice are escalated immediately in line with our safeguarding procedures.
Measuring Effectiveness
We assess our effectiveness in preventing modern slavery through:
- 100% completion of right‑to‑work and DBS checks
- Annual policy reviews
- Zero reported incidents or concerns relating to modern slavery
- Regular review of supplier compliance
Training and Awareness
All Directors and staff receive safeguarding training, which includes recognising signs of exploitation, trafficking, and other forms of abuse. Modern slavery awareness is embedded into our recruitment, compliance, and safeguarding processes.
Our Commitment
Enlightenment Education remains committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships. We will continue to review and strengthen our approach to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our organisation or supply chain.
